You merely securely attach the provided "safety belt" to a person and then hook the srl hook around the persons safety belt (making sure its locked) before they descend or ascend a staircase. Then, the person slowly proceeds up or down the staircase. Thats it! If, in the event, of an unfortunate slip and fall on a staircase, the srl cable is designed to safely lock in place within a few feet and stop the fall early, in order, to prevent the person from falling all the way to the bottom of the staircase and being seriously hurt or worse! Now any person can have much greater peace of mind while climbing or descending staircases!

Can be mounted to either left-side handrails or right-side handrails. Just switch the "SRL mounting bolt" to either the left or right mounting hole provided in the mounting box "base plate", depending on what side rail you are trying to adapt the mounting box to.
