DESCRIPTION: Pléiade edition of 17th century French novels, including:
• Charles Sorel - Histoire Comique de Francon
• Scarron - Le Romant Comique
• Furetière - Le Roman Bourgeois
• Madame de La Fayette - La Princesse de Clèves
Leatherbound edition with archival quality fine paper, with half covers leaving spine exposed, and ribbon bookmark.
Pléïade editions are the definitive French-language editions of French and international literary texts, for americans the nearest equivalent would be the Library of America editions of classic works (similar paper and quality, although the LoA titles are clothbound rather than leatherbound).
CONDITION: Slimline leatherbound omnibus edition. Leather covers protected by mylar wraparound jacket with paper front and back covers and front and back jacket flaps. Paper spine is absent, intentionally (Im 90% sure, but have never encountered another of this specific generation of Pléïades), mylar jacket shows some light shelf-wear. Contents appear clean and unmarked, save for previous price marking on IFEP. Pink silk ribbon bookmark is faded to yellow and slightly frayed on the exposed end, otherwise excellent shape. A very attractive copy.
