A truly rare collectible! Large, color print advertisements found throughout the magazine for various products of the day! Among the ads included, the Marilyn Monroe ad you see in the scans! You may find other examples of this ad pop up in the market from time to time, but hard to find one in better condition than this one. A MUST HAVE FOR THE SERIOUS MARILYN MONROE/NORMA JEANE COLLECTOR!

The story behind this ad: In the fall of 1945, Marilyn, then Norma Jeane, had landed a photo session with Douglas Airlines to promote their newest luxury airplane, The DC-6. The Douglas DC-6 Airplane Ad Campaign launched in 1946 and is the first time Marilyn appeared in ANY advertisement for 1946. Even though she is wearing her natural hair color, you will recognize her instantly as the young woman passenger sitting at the "window seat" on a Douglas DC-6. Shortly after the first Douglas Airview issue in January 1946, Douglas began running this full color oversize version in some of the major magazines for only a few issues, which makes it extremely rare. This is a complete issue of Colliers Magazine March 30, 1946 that has several advertisements inside INCLUDING Marilyns Douglas DC-6 ad.
