DESCRIPTION

The 1929 reprint of the second edition (published 1915).

Featuring 92 photogravure plates, including a tissue guarded frontispiece of Aphrodite of Melos, and numerous illustrations in the text.

The list of illustrations (pages xiii-xxv) has been bound in before the titlepage, rather than following the contents page.


CONDITION

In a modern handcrafted half leather binding, with marbled boards and endpapers. Externally, fine. Internally, firmly bound, with occasional light foxing, small spots, and marks. The majority of plates have small tidemarks to the edges.
