RARE Antique 1897 The Nile Fortune Telling Cards First Printing/Edition no. 68 with Orange Box, by US Playing Card Co.

These are the original first edition Nile Fortune Telling Cards in the Orange Box, and red/burgundy backing as opposed to the later green back printed ones. The no. 68. style of box is also different from later decks, as is the typesetting, and there are 2 printed fortunes, not 4 as in later decks on the pip cards. Complete set of 52 playing cards.

The cards are in EXCELLENT condition - hardly used. They are not gilded as later decks. The outer box/slipcover is in excellent condition with some minor wear and rubs in places. Life/joker card is included and in good shape. No guarantee paper, not sure if it was included with this early set.

There are 52 cards in the deck (plus the ‘life' card) and they look like regular playing cards, but you can see words printed around the images. You can use your Nile Fortune deck for divination purposes, using the same methods and layouts as you would for the standard 78-card tarot deck. The Nile cards are a bit easier to "read," though, because of the extra words on them.

These original Nile Fortune cards have all the meanings on the actual playing deck on two sides. This makes it easy because there is no need to memorize anything. Blending the cards will give you key sentences that you can build up on yourself.
